Little Sheffield Zine Fest Report

Sheffield Zine Fest was fun this year on Saturday. It was a nice (for a zine fest) grey day, not too hot and the venue (in the Workstation right near the train station) was very good. It was great to catch up with everyone and sell some comics, and do some swapping. Thanks to all the organisers and everyone who came along!

Sheffield Zine Fest 2019

It's Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday, 11 till 5, and i've got a table for my first show of the year. If you're nearby please come along! I'll have lots of comics such as my latest 'Merchants' book, 'Volunteers', 'Flying Sausage academy' and lots more. I'm looking forward to it, it's always a great event.

Little Sheffield Zine Fest Report

I enjoyed Sheffield Zine Fest again this year, it is a very friendly show. I didn't quite break even on the day but I was only a few quid off so that doesn't matter. The first few hours went really well and the fair was busy but I became very sleepy in the afternoon. I think I am not used to sitting in a room without any daylight anymore. I drank a bunch of coffee to try and wake up again. It went good again in the last hour and I woke up. Thanks everyone who came to my stall and looked at things, or bought something, I hope you liked it!
Sheffield is always a very good show for lots of people looking at my stuff and flicking through, instead of just looking at the covers and then walking off, so that always makes me happy.
I did some trades as shown below-

I got 'Ballgame no. 1' by Paddy Johnson, 'Parallel Lines' by Richard Swan,  and 'Ground' by Lee Taylor. They all look cool so I'm looking forward to reading them this week.

I'll have a stall at Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday. I'll have my new 'Japan Sketchbook', all my 'Flying Sausage Academy' series, 'Ragnar the Cheesemonger', all the 'RhiZome' anthologies and lots more. Sheffield Zine Fest Report

Sheffield Zine Fest was good again this year, I really enjoyed it. It had moved to a new venue, the Hubs, where the student union things are. It was a nice big space and still very near to the train station. It was a little quieter than other years, maybe because it was the bank holiday weekend with a lot of other stuff going on, but the people who came were very interested and bought lots of my comics. In the end I broke even on the day, with travel and table costs, so I'm always happy to do that. Thanks everyone who looked at my stuff or bought anything and thanks to the organisers for another very well run event!

It was great to catch up with Simon Moreton and Nick Soucek who had booked tables. I did lots of swaps and bought some zines too, here they are below...

I got Simon Moreton's 'Minor Leagues #1' which is Simon's new zines / comic project, Nick Soucek's 'The Writing on My Shoes' which I have read now and is very good, 'The Downfall' by Brunez, 'Sex with Animals' by Jacob Louis Beaney, 'Adventures in Menstrating #7' by Chella Quint, 'About a Girl #1' by Sam Duffy and 'You are Not the Worst' by Doug Jensen. I'm going to read the rest of them soon once I recover from the weekend. I had markets on Sunday and Monday after the zine fest so I'm knackered now.

Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday

I'll be at Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday. I'll have the three issues of 'Flying Sausage Academy', 'It's a Mans Life in the Ice Cream Business', 'On The Banks of the Mighty Croal', 'Corporation Pop', 'RhiZome', 'Slaves of the Megapode' and lots of other comics and zines for sale. It sounds like it'll be a really good one, there are loads of stalls this year. Please come along and say hello if you are near Sheffield.

Sheffield Zine Fest Report

I enjoyed Sheffield Zine Fest this year. It was busier than last year, but not as good as the year before that (which was the best). I sold a good amount of my 'It's a Man's Life in the Ice Cream Business' comics and a lot of the old small press comics and zines I was selling from a 50p box on my table. They went very well. It was a very random box of comics from round the world. Thanks everyone who bought something! Rob Brown and Russell Stearman both had stalls so I could catch up with them which was good. I did some interesting trades as well, which I always like to do, so I've got something to read now.

Sheffield Zine Fest

I'll be at Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday, my first event of the year. It's from 11 till 6 at the Electric Works right on the middle of town. Why not come along if you live near Sheffield? I'll have all my comics including new copies (that I've just been stapling) of 'It's a Man's Life in the Ice Cream Business' 1 & 2, 'RhiZome' 1 & 2, 'The Gods Must be Bastards', 'The Storytellers' and the 'Slaves of the Megapode' trilogy. I'm also bringing along a big box full of interesting comics and zines from around the world to sell off cheap, so why not have a look through that.

Sheffield Zine Fair Report

Saturday was my first show of the year, Sheffield Zine Fair. It was a bit quieter than last year which was a shame, as last year was great. It started really well and the first two hours were very good, which makes a nice change for a show, but then it went quiet for the rest of the afternoon. My best selling comic was 'On The Banks of the Mighty Croal'. I covered all my costs for getting there and for the stall so that was good, just quieter than I was hoping. Like last year it was very well run and organised.

I'll be at the Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday. Last years was really good, nice and busy with lots of interesting stalls, why not come along if you live near Sheffield? It's my first comics show of the year.

Sheffield Zine Fest Report

Sheffield Zine Fest on Saturday went really well! It was in the Electric Works, just next to Sheffield station so it was very easy to get to. Here's a photo of the Electric Works, my obligatory boring stall photo and a photo of my haul of stuff I bought and traded.

I was sat next to Russell Steadman who I had a table next to at Leeds Thoughtbubble so that was cool. The zine fest was good and busy all day long, with no long gaps. I sold plenty of comics and covered all my costs and made a few quid to spend on other comics, so that was great! The Electric Works has a slide which goes from the third floor to the ground floor reception but I was too busy to have a ride on it, which shows how busy it was. Thanks to the organisers, and everyone who came along! Hopefully I'll be able to go to the next one too.

I'm busy drawing 'California - part four' at the moment but I can't show any as every panel would give away what happens next. It will be out on the 1st of April.
