Margaret Jackson - A Retrospective - Exhibition, Hive Gallery, Bolton

My Dad organised a retrospective exhibition for my Mum's paintings. It's at Hive Gallery, the Market Place, Bolton. I went and looked round yesterday, it looks really good. The Opening is next Saturday afternoon so I'll go along to that. Lots of the little paintings have sold so thats very nice. Paintings should be up on many peoples walls instead of being stored. Thanks to Julie and everyone at the gallery for hanging the paintings so nicely and organising a lot of stuff.

Here's lots of pictures of the gallery as I want to keep them.

'Rituals of Loneliness'

I've done some illustrations for the artist Shonagh Short for a new video artwork at FACT Liverpool called 'Rituals of Loneliness' It'll be on show in the foyer at FACT from the 15th of September to the 3rd of October. Hopefully it'll be shown on a big screen outside as well, when that gets put up. We are planning to go and see it once it's open.

It's a very good exhibition by artists and writers, why not go and see it if you are near Bolton. It's all about the allotments of Bolton. Here's some pictures I took. The 9 artists are: Carol Barlow, Janet Brady, Dorothy Ellin, Jennifer Gilmour, Maggie Hargreaves, Margaret Jackson, Kevin Shipley, Steph Shipley and Susan Syddall. The 3 writers are: Ros Davis, Robert Eldon and David Jackson.

Bolton Open Art Show

Last night I went to the Bolton Open Art Show with my mum. She had won 2nd prize with this painting. It's a lovely one. The show was really good this year. The winner was a painting by George Potts.

In the permanent collection I was surprised to see another painting by George Potts of my childhood barber, Neville. I went to his barber shop from about six till thirteen.

Korean Art Gallery Catalogue

When I went to the art gallery in Taejon Korea one of my students who worked there told them I was a visiting European artist and I got this for free. The further you go from home the more famous you can be ... it was very cool. I was doing some cartooning at the time so I did deserve it. People there always seemed very happy if they saw me drawing pictures of their cities and buildings, they would come and shake my hand and smile.
I like the painting below the cover by Lee Hung-duk.
