Bolton Open Art Show
Last night I went to the Bolton Open Art Show with my mum. She had won 2nd prize with this painting. It's a lovely one. The show was really good this year. The winner was a painting by George Potts.
In the permanent collection I was surprised to see another painting by George Potts of my childhood barber, Neville. I went to his barber shop from about six till thirteen.

Thought Bubble Report
I really should have taken some better photos... here's a boring one of my stall.
The Saturday at Thoughtbubble started very quietly as usual for sales, I was getting worried but then I had ten good minutes of sales. They were the best ten minutes I've ever had. I sold lots of my 'Storytellers' book which was nice. Thanks everyone who came and bought something! After that it went quiet again but I was happy, thinking that maybe Sunday would be good too, like it was for me last year.
I had a good night out with everyone on Saturday night and woke up Sunday very hungover and sleepy. Sadly Sunday was really really quiet, so in the end I sold less comics than last year. I just sold some comics to other cartoonists near the end of the day, thanks cartoonists!
I think that as the convention had got so much bigger the money was more spread out between the stalls. There didn't seem to be any more customers than last year, just more stalls. In the end it was ok, I met lots of people and had a good laugh, but didn't sell enough comics.
The train home was easy luckily, I got a seat all the way for the first time ever. But now I have come down with a nasty convention cold, never mind. Luckily I've got a few days off now.

Trying Out my New Black Pea Sign
I got to try out my new black pea sign yesterday at Hoghton Tower as my dad had made a way of hanging it from the gazebo. It worked very well, as we sold 75 black peas, up from 45 the month before. I reckon about 10 of them sales are sign related.

A Bit of my 'Villages' Story
Here's a bit of my story I drew to submit to the Kus Villages anthology. It's set in Knott End. I've just finished it today and sent it off. I've drawn my grandma's house in it, and also people with pink blobs for heads.

Comics I Got at the Bristol Comics and Zine Fair
Here's the four comics I got at the Bristol Comics and Zine Fair on Saturday. I was going to go round again at the end and get some more but I was very knackered, there was loads of other great stuff on sale.
There's Simon Moreton's 'Smoo #7' which is a set of three little mini comics about the small village he grew up in. You can read them in any order. They are really good. Here's a proper review of them from Andy Oliver at Broken Frontier.
Robert Brown's 'Killjoy #2' is great, I really liked the first issue too. This time he tells a group of short stories from his childhood. I especially liked 'Watershed' and 'Lost and Found' where he gets lost in a shopping centre from his dad, I can remember getting lost like that once myself.
I got Gareth Brookes 'The Black Project'. I really enjoyed the minicomic of the first part of the story he brought out a while ago and the book carries the story on really well. Highly recommended and I really liked how it ended.
Also I got Sean Azzopardi's lovely sketchbook called 'Trees', which has some really good drawings of trees from London and Angouleme.

Bristol Comics and Zine Fair Report
Bristol Comics and Zine Fair went really well. I went down on the train on Saturday morning. It had got really sunny by the time I got to Bristol. The venue at The Station in the middle of town was really nice, a good big room with plenty of room behind the tables and lots of windows, and even a big door with some outside seating which was a nice change from sitting in the dark.
It started pretty busy but then there was a lull from about two till half three where I was getting a bit worried about my sales. Luckily it got really good after that and I had a great day for selling my comics. It was one of the best days I've had anywhere.
The after party was also cool, with good bands and nice Bristol made beer.
Thanks to all the organisers and everyone who came along! I'm very happy with it and would definately go again. Tomorrow I'll put up my comics haul once I've read them all.
